چکیده

A facility has been developed for the determination of the ratio of pulse high voltage dividers over the range from 10 kV to 300 kV using comparative techniques with Kerr electro-optic voltage measurement systems and reference resistive voltage dividers. Pulse voltage ratios of test dividers can be determined with relative expanded uncertainties of 0.4 % (coverage factor k = 2 and thus a two standard deviation estimate) or less using the complementary resistive divider/Kerr cell reference systems. This paper describes the facility and specialized procedures used at NIST for the determination of test voltage divider ratios through comparative techniques. The error sources and special considerations in the construction and use of reference voltage dividers to minimize errors are discussed, and estimates of the measurement uncertainties are presented.

Influence of Coaxial Cable on Response of High- Voltage Resistive Dividers

An effort is pursued by several European National Measurement Institutes to lower the uncertainties in calibration of UHV measuring systems for lightning impulse. To this end, several reference dividers are investigated as regards their accuracy both for amplitude and for time parameters. During these investigations a deterioration of step response was identified when longer coaxial cables were...

The Voltage and Time Parameter Measurement Uncertainties of a Large Damped Capacitor Divider due to its Non-ideal Step Response

Limited frequency response of impulse voltage dividers contributes to the measurement errors of the peak voltage and time parameters. This paper investigates the convolution method for the determination of the errors of lightning impulse parameters due to non-ideal step responses. The step response of a damped capacitor divider with a voltage rating of 2.2 MV was measured and analytical lightni...

Dynamic Measurement Uncertainty of Hv Voltage Dividers

− Recently we proposed an approach based on digital filtering for evaluating dynamic non-stationary contributions to the measurement uncertainty. A dynamic simulator instead of a digital filter bank is here utilized for deriving the dynamic measurement uncertainty of mixed capacitive voltage dividers. These are used for lightning impulse measurements, during a calibration measurement of a stand...

Voltage linearity of scale factor and wave shape parameters of UHV impulse voltage dividers

Determining the voltage linearity of a large impulse voltage divider used in the testing of ultra-high-voltage (UHV) equipment is a challenging task. This leads to the question of whether the uncertainty requirements, specified in the present edition of IEC60060 [1, 2], can be met in the UHV range. This paper presents the results of voltage divider linearity tests at voltages up to 2400 kV. Mea...

Using Deconvolution for Correction of Non-ideal Step Response of Lightning Impulse Digitizers and Measurement Systems

Lightning impulse measurements can be highly influenced by measurement arrangement, characteristics of high voltage divider, digitizer (transient recorder) performance, and algorithms used for parameter evaluation. The main sources of measurement errors are the non-ideal step responses of digitizer and voltage divider. This paper discusses the use of deconvolution to correct for the non-ideal s...
